The major highlights in the history of the department

1979 - The department was established with the name of "Department of Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation" and affiliated to the rectorate.

1979 - M.S. Program initiated.

1982 - The name of the department was changed to "Department of Physical Education and Sports" and affiliated to the Faculty of Education.

1983 - B.S. Program initiated.

1997 - B.S. Program was suspended.

2003 - Ph.D. program initiated.

2024 - B.S Program initiated.
